XAMPP or WAMPserver, does it make a difference?

Andy,
About a year ago I took an online PHP / MySQL course. That all went well, but it also made me think I'd be better off to start from scratch with HTML & CSS and work my way up the chain. Which is why your book has been great.

My question: That course had us install WAMPserver. Since I already have the WAMPServer do I need XAMPP? I'll go which ever way you say. If I'll be able to follow your book better with the XAMPP I'll do it. Also if I do install the XAMPP should I remove WAMPserver? If keeping WAMP is okay should I install the newest version with the latest PHP and MySQL versions? What do you recommend?

Installing a server can be a messy operation, so if you've already got a good solution, by all means stick with it.

There may be a few differences in configuration, but overall, things should work exactly the same.
